WHAT??? When I was doing my postgraduate diploma, my supervisor was American, and he studied in Japan. He said that an Indonesian student in his class mentioned Abraham Lincoln and the Russo-Japanese War were important to Indonesians. The reason being that Lincoln said all races were equal and the Russo-Japanese War proved it.

The fact that what should have been a human rights issue saw people go to war, defies comprehension. And it's all very well to say that not all colonists supported slavery, but the fact that some did speaks volumes!
