WHAT THE VICTORIAN LIBERAL PARTY MUST DO.

Everyday I thank heavens that the former Victorian Leader of the Opposition was both comprehensively beaten in the 2018 State Election and is no longer leader of the party. We are talking about a leader who basically wanted to give rights to right-wingers and have an appalling view of Australian history taught in Victorian schools, as well as dismantle the Safe Schools Programme.

On the same night that Sia came under fire for selecting a neurotypical actor to play the role of an autistic teenage girl. we see that the Shadow Minister for Autism, Bernie Finn, released a meme depicting the Premier, Daniel Andrews, as having strabismus. He later withdrew the meme, but then made excuses, claiming that he was misunderstood and that left-wing trolls were attacking him.

The role of Minister (or Shadow Minister) for Autism requires a degree of sensitivity and somebody who can insult and offend the autistic community is about as great a choice as a nationalistic politician for a diplomatic career post politics.

One of the ardent supporters of this politician attempted to defend him by saying it was a mistake. My response is, “No, hitting the wrong key, that’s a mistake; making a meme that offends the community you serve, that’s a demonstration of unsuitability for that role.” The Victorian Liberal Party has no option but to replace Bernie Finn.
