Well, for an example of fiction, 34 years ago, a news bulletin reported that my old high school had to be evacuated, and when I saw it, I thought, "What?!" The truth was, yes, there was a gas leak opposite the school from plant equipment, and yes, two people from the school had to be taken to hospital, but the TV station arrived after 3pm and filmed us coming out of school at the end of the day! And you have to question everything that you read in the newspapers or see on the news, especially if you hear it from Tucker Carlson or Fox News.

Many things that happen in fiction books do happen in real life.

It's healthy to be cynical and to have a critical mind.
