There is a ridiculous, and I mean ridiculous, doctor who claims that men and women cannot be platonic friends. Most of my friends are women and I have better and easier friendships with women than I do with men, unless the men are autistic. This ridiculous doctor, in a radio interview, described how a group of guys he thought were his mates and he played cricket during the lunch hour, and one day, he noticed a group of guys were yelling out things at him and the guys he thought were his mates were actually egging the others on. He then described running up to the library to hide out for fear of being violently assaulted. Perhaps unsurprisingly, given the nature of who he is, he was also shunned by the girls, whereas I tended to find that the girls stuck up for me. And he claimed that his motivation for becoming a doctor was that he thought people would like him. Okay, he has a small following, but if people didn't like him before he became a doctor, they're not going to like him after he became a doctor.
