The way this is written makes it sound like it's all one person's efforts to make a relationship work, but you can't make another person want to desire or love you.

Let's consider this. Sometimes, after a relationship break-up, it is rekindled, in some cases, within a few days, in other cases, a few decades. Let's say, in the second case, two high school sweethearts get together at 15, and for whatever reason, their relationship ends. They attend the 30 year reunion, and they are either divorced or unpartnered. In some cases, the old spark can be rekindled, and at 47, they get together. In some cases, they saw what broke them up, and they say, "Well, it was good while it lasted."

And seriously, where is the wisdom in trying to woo back somebody who doesn't want to be there?
