"The price of freedom is eternal vigilance." If we say that history repeats itself, we need to remember something. In the late 1920s, most people outside Germany who read Mein Kampf laughed it off as the ramblings of a fanatical madman, yet so much of what was outlined in that book occurred. Peter Bielenberg said that he was sure that most people in Germany wouldn't fall for "that clown".

As a non-American, I was hopeful but not certain that people would be able to see through trump and not elect him, but that didn't happen. In my native Australia, I believed that hanson needed to be condemned for her beliefs, and my father would say, "She's not in power; she doesn't make policy, so why get angry?" Well, between 2016 and 2022, she held a powerful role in the crossbench of the senate and the Liberal Party needed her vote to pass legislation, so it passed legislation that she wanted, too. Nobody with an IQ higher than that of a pine needle would vote for hanson, and a few people with whom I was friends have found themselves being hit with the words of Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes covered by Simply Red, "we might as well say good-bye, What good is a friendship, when we can't see eye to eye?" (I know it was love affair, but I could never have a partner who was a hanson supporter).
