Thanks, and yes, I knew that. Scomo has had more makeovers than Madonna, to borrow a description of Peter Costello by Wayne Swan. First, he was the hardline immigration minister, then, he was, in Botty's words, "The tough welfare cop on the beat," then, when Malcolm Turnbull became PM, he was "a Labor Liberal Treasurer passing Labor Budgets," he's been a curry and barramundi chef, and a Pentecostal Christian.
I remember a real right-wing idiot saying that I'd be quoting Karl Marx after I agreed with Paul Keating's assessment of Botty, and hey, Paul Keating was right! I mean, so what if Paul Keating collected French clocks and wore Zenga suits. I like Japanese watches, like Seiko, Citizen and the like. If I had learnt Japanese and German, I might have, at school, have wanted a Swatch watch and a Pulsar watch and said that I'd wear the Swatch watch some days and the Pulsar others or if I'd glasses at least in my last two years at school, I'd have worn a Swatch watch and Seiko glasses.
At school, all I really had going for me was my intellect. I wasn't good socially and I wasn't good at sport, either. I liked Japanese, Modern History and the like.
Collecting French clocks can be viewed as a special interest if you're autistic. Which explains my comment above. I have a special interest in Japan, so I like having two Japanese things on me at all times.
