People say, "You never know your luck in a big city," but a big city can be just as isolating as a small town. London is a big city and yes, Soho is renowned for its vibrant LGBTIQA scene.
I am on a trans journey (male to female) and if I wanted a partner, I would want a non-binary AFAB, a bisexual woman or a lesbian (I am not attracted to males) and lived for a few years in a seaside town in Queensland, which, despite having some LGBTIQA and Bohemian elements, was redneck conservative, so I relocated to the state capital and was happier. (I had moved there because I developed CPTSD from schoolyard bullying and thought a geographic shift would help, but it didn't, apart from my autism identification).
Melbourne is Australia's most progressive city, which is why Matthew Guy had two chances of becoming Victorian Premier in two elections, none and Buckley's. I am glad that you have decided to make your new home in Melbourne, and hope it continues to work well for you.
