Okay, let's take a step back here. In my native Australia, a particularly repulsive politician, and one who made a fool of himself when "debating" Professor Brian Cox (he just kept farting, "Show me the empirical evidence," when Professor Brian Cox was presenting him graphs, and then claimed that the data was corrupted by NASA), gave an incendiary speech in Parliament that a boy couldn't so much as look at a doll without people wanting him to transition. The reverse of that nonsense is that unless a boy had a sister or a close girl cousin, in my day, if a boy so much as looked at a doll, his parents told him he couldn't as they were girls' toys!
To me, keeping the parents informed brings back memories of my primary school days when the clock struck 2:57pm, and the teacher would tell the class to get out the books that they needed for their homework and put them on their desks. Just before the bell rang at 3pm, the teacher would sometimes look around the classroom and if they saw that John/Jane had their books on their desk, they'd remark, "John/Jane's got a nice home to go to." And if a kid was fooling around, the teacher would say the opposite.
In this vein, I remember an episode of A Country Practice, where a small girl was told to keep her jumper on as her mother has left bruises on her.
If the parent doesn't advocate for the child, you have to ask the question, "What are they afraid of?" Yes, there have been cases where a man and his pregnant partner have gone for an ultrasound and the man leaps up and kisses his partner's exposed belly when he sees that the child will be a boy, and he thinks, "Great, all these years of watching football matches, and cricket," only to find that his son has no interest and wants to be his daughter, instead. He can accept it or he can go the other way.
I remember, when I was little, I watched a show with Buffy and Jody, and I wanted to pretend to be Buffy and my mother used to say that I couldn't. Fast forward 32 years, and I had a housemate who had a son who used to dress as a pirate, as Peter Pan and as Dolly Cowgirl, and nobody said anything.
