No matter how progressive you may purport to be, some of this reads as conservative. Let's break it down.

What many conservatives speak of as "family" is in reality, the patriarchal nuclear family. It does not consider extended families, blended families (it does not believe in divorce), single-parent families or others. A family might consist of a widowed man and his widowed mother or mother-in-law, a widowed woman and her widowed father or father-in-law and the former's children. It may consist of a widowed grandparent, two parents (heterosexual or same-sex) and children, the possibilities are endless.

Society needs to start thinking of trans-folk like this. The year is 1988, and a 19-year-old has bought a 1978 model Ford Falcon. They want to listen to cassettes in the car but it only has an AM radio, and no cassette deck, so they upgrade the stereo by putting in a new head unit with 35-watt output. When they plug it into the speakers, the speakers, which are only 5-watt, go, "No way!" So, they upgrade the speakers. Kids are NOT being kept prisoners of their minds. What is being said is, "We see you. We want to help you be more comfortable in your skin." That orange-haired fool who was indicted this week, claimed that he wanted to reverse what he claimed was Joe Biden's "cruel" trans measures. If you want to see cruelty, it comes from the orange-haired fool!

The claim that they will be sterile and will never have a true family experience is inaccurate and it ignores another factor. Namely, as much as people say that it takes a male and a female to create a child, not everybody on this planet will meet their soulmate! So, not everybody will ever have a family of their own! The sterility argument can also be dismissed on the grounds that, if we compare it to a young woman who has cancer, she may be able to harvest and store her eggs for the future, lest chemotherapy makes her infertile. A transman or a transwoman can harvest their eggs or collect their sperm and have it frozen and stored, assuming they can afford to, and some transwomen, not all of them, particularly those who transition later in life, may have their families before they transition. It's less uncommon now for a person to see a funeral notice that reads something like, "Smith, Mary, late of 16 Anywhere Street Suburbia. Dearly loved Wife of Josephine, Father and Father-in-Law to Thomas and Jennifer Jackson, Michael and Louise Smith and Takeshi and Margaret Smith-Kawamura and Grandfather to Abby, Alexandra, Takayuki and Hideko and loved Friend of Jessica. People might read it and think, "Mary? Father?" but some with a bit of nous might think, "Oh, Mary transitioned but her kids still think of her as their Dad."

If you want to see nonsense, genital inspection before permission to use the toilet is an abuse of power and authority! You have the right to ask a person their name and their pronouns, but not what genitalia they have or their deadname!

Have we heard the testimonies of those who are de-transitioning? Yes, we have, but that is NOT reason to dissuade people from transitioning and nor is it reason to criminalise it!
