My paternal grandfather used to say, "Put your hand into a bucket of water. Now, pull it out. What do you see? A few ripples. That's about the only impact you have upon those around you." Yes, there can be the ripple effect of your actions causing others to do something, but, by in large, people aren't interested. I remember, when Ronnie Corbett died, someone said, "Oh, why does some has been from the 1970s passing have to make news?" My response was, "That 1970s has been you speak of, might be someone who, a reader was allowed to stay up on a Saturday night to watch on TV, or someone who, in a traumatic time, represented an escape."

Those who care will remember those who died, those who couldn't care less will forget.
