My mother wouldn't accept my autism diagnosis and even said that a psychologist mental health social worker diagnosing it didn't mean anything. Considering the fact that my mother forced me to see a ridiculous doctor who couldn't even make a precise diagnosis of asthma, and any "advice" he gave me was contradictory garbage, (i.e. it's not very serious, but then prescribed a high dose of medication that he claimed was "a bit stronger" (25 versus 10, maybe, but 250 versus 100 is a lot stronger, not a bit) and who is against the use of antidepressants because he claims that society is sick, when I was more hot-headed, I said to my mother, "You ever force me to see a doctor you know I don't like, and you'll lend me that Toyota Camry every weekend for every minute that I endure the consultation," (so, if I have to spend 10 minutes there, you'll lend me the Camry for 10 weekends). Fortunately, however, my kindred spirit cousin has seen the ridiculous doctor and she and my aunty agree that he's an idiot, and my aunty stood her ground with the receptionist one day when she went with another cousin, and this doctor was the only one available at that time, and she said, "No, we are NOT seeing him! We'll wait!" If someone told me I'm not autistic, I'd say, "The heck I'm not!" and walk out!

I think it's because governments don't want people on welfare (something for Americans to remember, if that asshole who is facing indictments and prosecutions were to be returned, it would be much worse than what it is now, especially as he wants to wind back protections for trans folk, and autistic people are more likely to be transgender or at least gender non-conforming. As a fellow Australian and friend of Tony's, there was a despicable Liberal Party candidate by the name of Katherine Deves, who claimed that all trans kids were autistic and should be treated as such. I think there's also a patriarchal element in that many AMAB autistic males are more in touch with their feminine side than their masculine side (I know I am) Also, I think that as autistic people are saying, "We don't want to go to ABA, we don't want to be forced into specific gender roles, we don't want to be cured," the neuro-majority is thinking, "Oh, shit, these people want rights."
