Most homophobic attacks are conducted by self-loathing homosexuals and most transphobic attacks are also conducted by self-loathing transphobes. The only exception I would suggest to that is the fool who used to be in the Oval Office, you know, the one whose Mar-A-Largo Mansion was raided by the FBI. That individual is not a little man who dared put his head above the parapet, he is a misogynist who doesn't want to accept a changing world.
