If people REALLY want to talk about what is REALLY mutilation, here's what they need to be talking about. A baby is born with indeterminant genitalia, and the doctor says that the child needs surgery. The parents consent. Then, it turns out that the child's orientation was different, or the surgery was unnecessary.

I have a niece and a nephew, and when I buy them presents, I don't buy what is "normal" for girls or "normal" for boys, I buy them what they like! If you have a child who is born intersex, don't get railroaded into gender confirming surgery, get a second opinion, and then wait and see how the child develops and what interests they have. You have to ask the question, "Is gender confirmation surgery for intersex children physically necessary and justified? If the answer is no to the first bit, leave it. If it's not justified, wait until the child can consent.
