IF I COULD ASK SELENA GOMEZ ONE QUESTION….
On Sunday morning, I was in the pharmacy and Selena Gomez’s I Love You Like a Love Song, Baby was playing. I remarked to the assistant that I have the 101 Love Songs Compilation and that all 101 songs were different. We agreed, however, that Berlin’s Take My Breath Away was a great song.
I said to the assistant that F. R. David’s Words is totally different to Endless Road for example. As F. R. David is a Tunisian-born Frenchman, he sings about how words don’t come easily to him and he wants to express his love to his girlfriend, while Endless Road by the Time Bandits alludes to lost love and is about a man who has his heart open to the prospect of love until one comes his way. Similarly, Eternal’s Power of a Woman is about a man who is caught up in unreciprocated love, but a woman is telling him that she can offer him the real thing. Some love songs are about a lover who has died.
The assistant and I agree that it is an annoying song, and if I could ask Selena Gomez one question it would be, how can you love someone like a love song when love may be the central theme of love songs, but some love songs are different. So, do you love someone wistfully, sadly, regretfully, passionately, or how else?
