I went to school with a girl whose father worked for a company where they had Commodores or Falcons for company cars and they were given a new one every three years. At the same time, my neighbour wanted to buy a midnight blue Falcon but that colour wasn't available so he bought a Commodore, whereas the the girl's father compromised with a white Falcon with a blue stripe on it.

Allowing a man to stop his partner from having an abortion is, in my view, akin to the girl's father saying, "No, I want a midnight blue Falcon, and I want to wait until I get one." Why? Well, say the company leased the cars for three years, they would have to pay the registration, and the vehicle would have to have been comprehensively insured. One year, when someone close to me was in a position of authority and said to the sales representatives, "Okay, here's a colour chart, you can choose the colour," one them would say, "Okay, I want a red one," so he'd order one. Then, a few days later, the same rep would come back and say, "My wife saw a red car in that model and she doesn't like the colour, so could I change to an azure blue, please?" So, they would ring the dealer and say, can we change the red one to a blue one, please?" "Yes, but we're not going to have any azure blue cars for eight weeks." So, they'd tell the rep, and the rep would say fine. Then, the rep would come back and say, "Actually, my wife's changed her mind, and she wants me to get a red one." So, they would ring up and order it. When it came time to get a new car, they'd have to take out a second lease on the rep's existing car because they kept changing their minds over colours they wanted, and Head Office said, "What the hell's going on? Why are you taking out a second 12 month lease on that car, when this person has got a brand new one?" And he said, "I let them choose the colour," and Head Office said, "No, don't do that." And the next year, they just contacted the dealer and said, "Give us whatever you can get your hands on, and if the staff don't like it, too bad."

The point is, if the girl's father had said, "No, I want to wait for a midnight blue Falcon," the company would have probably said, "Look, if you were ordering the car for yourself, we couldn't care what you did. But as we're trading your Commodore in on a Falcon, we cannot take out a six week lease renewal on the Commodore while you wait for your preferred colour of Falcon to be delivered. Leases typically come in twelve month cycles."

So, while the company's paying the costs of the car, they can make that decision. It's the same as with a woman's body. If the woman is carrying the baby in gestation and for whatever reason, it's not in her interests to continue with the pregnancy, or she wants out, then no, a man shouldn't be able to stop her unless it's surrogacy.
