I think that there are several reasons why Sir Anthony Hopkins and Hannah Gadsby are differently received, not least of which are sex and sexuality. Sir Anthony Hopkins has some ableism in saying that he is "very high end" and is a cisgender heterosexual male. Hannah Gadsby, however, is a cisgender soft butch lesbian and I suspect that some of her attitude has to come from being intersectional and having to develop a hard shell.
I remember, 24 years ago, in Australia, a hard-right wing politician took extreme offense and even as high as a supreme court injunction against the public performance of a song by a drag queen by the name of Pauline Pantsdown, who released a satirical song about Hanson's politics. Hanson is a right-winger who has regularly criticised Indigenous Australians, Asians, Muslims and delivered an incendiary speech calling for autistic kids to be excluded from mainstream classes! Hanson would tell people to get over it, but reacted with extreme displeasure towards the song!
I say to many of these privileged white cis-het neurotypical people who get offended when autistic people criticise people like Sia, and took extreme offense to trump, maybe they need to walk not a mile but 500 miles in our shoes and see why we are so offended. Autistic people are statistically more likely to be gender diverse than our neurotypical counterparts; we have also been put down by our counterparts at school and other places for our attributes and quirks. We have been told that we are stupid or weird.
