I said to my GP, and she agreed, that if I needed a psychologist, I needed one who understood autism. Now, I'm going to go one better. I have found not a psychologist but a counselling social worker who is both autistic and LGBTIQA. I am autistic and transgender, and in the comfort of my own home, I can be who I am, but in public, it's different. Just recently, I went to a hospital appointment dressed in a pink polo shirt, sand coloured chinos, pink socks and brown shoes. Some days I wear pink, some days I wear blue, some days I wear all sorts of colours. Once I start on a testosterone blocker and then estrogen, I'll be happy.
