I remember, when I went to school, in some of the cinder block classrooms, they had a withdrawal room, and I wondered what it was about. It was about leaving the classroom to do something, often something relaxing. When I was in Year Five, my group used to do it for math, and I remember, one day, as one teacher was really loud, the teacher I had for math took us into the main room and he said, "Raise your hand if you can't hear me." No kidding, my Year Five teacher could stand at the blackboard at one end of the building and you could hear her in the withdrawal room at the opposite end of the building!
