I remember, when I was in Year Three, and we'd discovered homonyms, I used to ask my mother to write me sentences where I had to pick the correct word. I remember, at school, I did well in spelling, but really struggled with math. Having said that, I was fascinated by some numbers.

When I was in Year Four, I had to change schools, and that involved a bit of dumbing down, as I had to go from the Oxford School Dictionary to the A First Dictionary, but it had exercises in the back, and I used to do them for fun, at home. I would also read a lot, and I'd read the same books a lot. I read The Secret Seven, The Famous Five, and then, The Hardy Boys and The Three Investigators.

When I was in Year Seven, I used to read encyclopedias and pore over maps, to self-regulate and for enjoyment.

Then, when I started high school, I found my interest in history developed, and I also developed a keen interest in Japan and Japanese, and another interest in China. I pursued my interest in Japanese right through school and on to university.

I love UK crime dramas, as well, and can watch them over and over.
