I remember one day, watching The Voice, and Delta Goodrem was one of the coaches and my mother said that she didn't like her. I asked her why, and my mother replied, "I don't like her because she likes herself." I replied to my mother, "Before you can like anybody else, you have to like yourself."
For the record, I do like Delta Goodrem.
When I was identified as autistic, I felt a sense of relief and validation. I knew I wasn't crazy.
People talk about being undiagnosed with it, and I say, "No, when you are around your fellow autistics, you find your people."
I am far happier being my autistic self than being in a world that is made for neurotypical folk.
