I remember a pastor once telling a story of a man who was sufferer of depression, who, once he was baptized, became a server. And I thought, "This doesn't sound right. A feeling of COMMUNITY in church can be beneficial, but being baptized doesn't suddenly make you better."
Similarly, I remember my Year Nine Math teacher who saw a VW Kombi belonging to a man who lived nearby, and he said, "If God wants me to have that Kombi, God will provide it." Then he told me that God meant for him to have it because he had some friends over for dinner and one of them mentioned that the man's Kombi was for sale. Suddenly, his ears pricked up and he had a Ford Cortina of his own. The man wanted $15,000 for the Kombi (in 1989) and my teacher had a Ford Cortina to sell for $7000 and he had $1000 set aside. He needed $7000 which he said a friend offered to lend him, interest free for the Kombi. He bought it.
Money is a commodity that allows for the exchange of goods and services. My Year Eleven Economics teacher, who also taught Math, gave an example of how he knew a barber and the barber's daughter was struggling with Math and he asked if he could give her some tutoring in exchange for haircuts. The problem was, the girl needed tutoring once a week, the teacher didn't need a haircut once a week.
And no, anger is not a sin. Sometimes, it can be a necessary phase in order to heal from a trauma, too.
