I have the honour of being blocked on social media by a man who has a son who used ABA who claims that his son is no longer autistic. I angry reacted to things that he said. I explained to him that ABA is abusive, and a person will always be autistic.
I remember an episode of Australian drama GP, where a young man was at university and he didn't want to be, and he lived with his single mother and grandmother. His grandmother talked to his mother after he'd said that he was struggling at university and his mother replied, "Why? He loves going to university." His grandmother replied, "Does he? Or do you just want him to love it?" Sometimes, such parents send their kids to ABA and think they had a good time but they were masking.
