I could not believe this ridiculous doctor who claims that men and women can never be just friends and that people should stick to their own gender (he doesn't differentiate between sex and gender) referencing both the Oglala Lakota Tribes and the Australian First Nations Peoples on two matters. The first, with the Oglala Lakota, was that they waited six years between having children. Even if that was true, that would have meant no sex for six years. And regarding the Australians, he said, that they had Secret Men's Business and Secret Women's Business. What he ignored was the fact that Australian First Nations Peoples had their own words for transgender people AND, they were more accepting of them than he gave them credit for.

Many non-European traditional societies have been more understanding, with some Pacific Islander cultures raising a very pretty boy as a girl or a rei-rei.

This doctor claims to be passionate about ethnography and history, yet what he is really doing is cherry-picking bits of information to attempt to make erroneous points. The claim that gender roles should be preserved appears to follow the belief that a person should live as the sex they were assigned at birth, rather than just being their true selves. And to think this same doctor has written a book claiming that we can only achieve a balanced life by being our authentic selves! The first part of being your authentic self, in my book, is admitting your true age (not saying you were 21 when you were 23) and then saying, "Well, okay, if you were AFAB or AMAB and you identify more as the opposite sex or a different gender then you should be free to do so and not resort to masking!
