Exactly 27 years ago, today, I was in Japan, and when I was getting off the bus, I said, "Osaki ni," to an elderly Japanese man, and bowed, but bizarrely, he slapped my backside. It didn't tarnish my time in Japan, but having survived abuse in Australia, it wasn't pleasant.
