DUTTON’S STERN WARNING IS RISIBLE.

Anybody who has studied some history of Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War would have heard the phrase, coined by Harold Holt, “All the way, with LBJ.” While it was necessary, 25 years earlier, for Australia to, in the words of John Curtin, “… look(s) (sic) to the USA, free from any pangs as to our traditional kinship with Great Britain,” when it declared war against Japan on the same day as Pearl Harbor was bombed, what Australia essentially did was say, “All right, Britain, over to the USA to pull the strings now.” Australia and the USA became involved and embroiled in the Vietnam War, and Australia has jumped to the US commands.

So, amongst some of us, there was a sense of exasperation when Australia followed trump’s bellicose statement to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of and move the US Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. The reasons for Australia’s actions were both domestic and international. Domestic, in that after Malcolm Turnbull lost the leadership of the Liberal Party and the Prime Ministership of Australia, he resigned from politics and there was a by-election in his seat. Turnbull’s mother was Jewish, and there was a rumour that he was Jewish, but he wasn’t. The Liberal Party sought to appeal to the Jewish community in Turnbull’s former electorate and that of the Federal Treasurer, Josh Frydenberg, and considered this to be a way of doing so. And international because former Australian Prime Minister, Morrison, was accurately referred to as a mini trump.

After trump lost the 2020 Election, and he lost it, the election was NOT stolen, Australia had 16 months from when trump left the White House and a general election, where Morrison’s Government was removed. The man who twice tried to lead the Liberal Party, and only succeeded after Josh Frydenberg, the man widely tipped to be the next leader of the Liberal Party, lost his seat at the 2022 Election, Dutton, was elected Leader of the Opposition. Dutton, upon hearing that the Labor Party would reverse the provocative and preposterous decision to follow trump and return the Australian Embassy to Tel Aviv, made a fool of himself by issuing a stern warning about the decision, labelling it a blunder and knee-jerk reaction.

The Labor Party has sought to be a more logical party than the Liberal Party and could see how wrong the decision to move the Embassy was in the first place. And when one considers the fact that the decision to move the Embassy did not improve the Liberal Party’s chances electorally (after Turnbull resigned, former AMA President, Dr. Kerryn Phelps, won the seat as an Independent, and in the 2019 Election, Liberal Dave Sharma limped over the line and was soundly defeated by Teal Independent, Allegra Spender, in 2022), it can be seen that the party that made the greater blunder and more ill-considered move was the Liberal Party.

Dutton is not a particularly bright man and is cut from the same cloth as the Prince Knighting Nincompoop, abbott, who described Dutton as having character and conviction and could be the country’s PM. The Prince Knighting Nincompoop referred to the Teal Independents and their moves regarding the environment as “socialism”. According to the Prince Knighting Nincompoop, anything that he doesn’t agree with is socialism. And just how the Prince Knighting Nincompoop to be PM with an approval rating of 17% is anyone’s guess.

The Liberal Party is the party that believes, through its own arrogance, that it is the natural party of government, and having referred to a “Budget Emergency” (read: we are not in government, so we need to get in) and now a stern warning, it would be even more risable if the party wasn’t trying to be serious.
