Do I believe in free speech? Well, I believe that a person has the right to express an opinion, BUT, if they expect to be given that right, they should also be prepared for someone to be able to counter their argument. However, I do NOT believe that free speech should equal vindication of hate speech. '
What I think gender critics need to be told, however, is, unless a transgender person is impacting upon your life, leave them alone.
One thing that I say to the LGB part of the LGBTIQA community is, sexual orientation and gender orientation are not the same thing. A transwoman who was attracted to women will most likely, post-transition, be a transgender lesbian, not a woman in search of a husband. And a transman who was attracted to men will become a transgender gay man. There are some relationships where, say, a seemingly heterosexual man breaks down to his wife and says that he wishes to transition to a woman, and yes, in some cases, the wife might be the transgender woman's best friend post-transition, but for the relationship to continue as a marital one, the woman needs to typically be bisexual. A seemingly heterosexual man who wants to transition into a woman cannot expect his wife to live as a lesbian if she is not a lesbian, however.
