Bloody hell! General Douglas MacArthur, when he was appointed Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers, in Japan, said, "Starvation breeds unrest. Give me bread or give me bullets." And this was a man who was opposed to the use of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki on the bases that it took the chivalry out of warfare and that trying the Emperor was akin to crucifying Christ to a Christian.

I remember having regular arguments with a right-winger who appeared to support trump who claimed that he had a message of hope that they wanted or needed to hear. To that, I say, yes, the USA is a country with a low minimum wage, and what the racists forget is, to those who came from Mexico or Central America, the US minimum wage is a bargain compared to what they could be getting in Mexico, and to them, even if they have to live on corn and rice and send some money back to relatives in Mexico, it's heaven. What needs to be done is either relax the migration requirements or improve the minimum wage and conditions making them more attractive to Americans.
