Banning books reminds me of Nazi Germany. These conservatives do not want people to expand their minds.

I remember, when I was 18, and in my first year of my undergraduate degree, I saw a book in the university library titled "The Politics of Homosexuality" and I mentioned it to my father, and he told me not to read it or people would think I was gay. As a transgender lesbian, however, I wish I'd ignored that advice.

I enjoyed spending time in libraries as a student and engrossing myself in books.
