As someone who is autistic, gender non-conforming and self gender questioning, this article encapsulates many of my thoughts.

A similarity that I bring into is, I remember, in my first year of university, I had an argument with a woman, who was a self-confessed racist, when we were discussing who encapsulates what it is to be Australian, and people were talking about Professor Fred Hollows. I said that we should also not forget Dr. Victor Chang. The self-confessed racist said that Victor Chang wasn't Australian. What they REALLY meant was that Dr. Victor Chang wasn't white.

I regard the type of transphobia mentioned here as being on par with the right-wingers who claim to be patriots but in reality are just racists.

There is a particularly despicable right-wing Australian politician who spouts a load of ill-informed rot who is opposed to almost any minority rights, who, in their maiden rant, claimed that if they had a say as to who enters their house, they should have the same right to have a say as to who enters their country. To that, I say, ABSOLUTELY NOT, that is a difference between private and public. And the same applies here. Transwomen should have the same rights, pre or post-op, to use the women's toilet (if a transwoman with a penis wishes to pee, she will go into a cubicle so nobody will see it) and enter women's gyms and any other women's spaces. To the LGB who claim they are being bullied by the trans lobby, I say, "Look, being asked to share your spaces with trans people is not bullying. On a personal level, however, I say, if a cisgender lesbian does not want to date a transgender lesbian, that's her right as an individual, but that right should not extend to being able to deny a transgender lesbian the right to enter a lesbian nightclub or other women's spaces."
