As someone fast approaching 47, I wasn't diagnosed until I was 35 because not a lot was known about autism when I was a kid.

One thing I wish I could have drummed into kids I went to school with is, "If you see a kid sitting by themselves eating their lunch, you can say hello. But just because you see a kid sitting by themselves does NOT give you the right to target their vulnerability!" It is NOT tough for a group of bullies to target one kid.

I wouldn't swap my autism for anything.
