As somebody who has chronic health conditions, I say that you can still enjoy life without health unless your health precludes you from doing something you want to do. Yes, if you were a young footballer with a promising career and one night you were driving home when a drunk driver ran a red light and plowed into your car, and you became a quadriplegic as a result, you could be bitter and angry. But if you develop spinal arthritis but have no interest in football, it can be blessing if you have a brother who pesters you to play with him and your doctor tells you it's out of the question.
As for looks, well, sometimes, it can have the opposite effect. Sometimes people who weren't good-looking as teenagers can attend the 30-Year School Reunion and have attendees notice that your skin is now clear, when your nicknames, on account of your acne, at school were, "Crater-face", "Zit face", "Pizza face", and others. And you had a little s**t make vicious remarks to you about it!
