A large number of autistic females are picked up in adulthood after they've had their child diagnosed. The other time is when they seek help for burnout or mental health concerns. This is a great tragedy and one that can be avoided with greater understanding of autism and how it presents in females. We must also remember that not all males present in the typical male way.
